When is the Canada Child Benefit paid each month?

Payments are generally issued on the 20th of every month. If the 20th falls on a weekend or a holiday, the payment is typically issued on the last business day before the 20th.

How does my income affect the payment amount?

If your adjusted family net income is below $37,487, you receive the maximum amount for each child. Above this threshold, the benefit is gradually reduced based on your income and the number of children in your care.

Do I need to apply for the benefit every year?

No, you do not need to re-apply every year. However, you and your spouse or common-law partner must file your tax returns every year to continue receiving the benefit, even if you had no income to report.
